The Pinellas

It is a component of the West Coast Dental
Association (WCDA), the Florida
Dental Association (FDA) and the
American Dental Association (ADA).
For the community in which we live and practice,
PCDA
provides general dentist and specialist
referrals, complaint mediation through the Peer Review process, information
about dental care assistance programs, and financial assistance to local
schools and programs to support the development and operation of dental

Mission
The mission of the Pinellas County Dental Association is to promote organized dentistry and to uphold the highest standards of dental care.
Its duty is to support the professional growth of our members, to act as a source of information for the membership and the public, to support quality dental health care and continuing education, to strengthen the patient / dentist relationship and be responsive to the changing needs of the public and the profession.
Member Support
PCDA
supports members in achieving and
maintaining high standards of professionalism and leadership within
dentistry and our community through locally-based continuing education
programs, monthly general membership meetings, and involvement in state and
national legislative issues.
PCDA
recognizes the challenges of operating a
dental practice in today’s increasingly changing health care environment and
strives to offer its membership, through local resources and our partnership
with WCDA, FDA and ADA, a wide variety of programs and information designed
to assist members in creating and sustaining successful practices.
Member Benefits
Tripartite Membership:
Membership in organized dentistry is tripartite and includes the
American Dental Association (ADA),
Florida Dental Association (FDA), the
West Coast Dental Association (WCDA)
and our local dental society,
Pinellas County Dental Association
(PCDA).
We are your local affiliate for membership to organized
dentistry. All PCDA members are required to be members of the
WCDA, the FDA, and the ADA. You can belong to PCDA for 1 year before
the requirement for a tripartite membership.
In this system, dentists benefit from all the levels of
membership and representation. Reduced dues are available to recent dental
school graduates and those in residency programs.
Continuing Education
This includes required
courses, such as ethics and jurisprudence, and HIV offered at no
extra cost with dinner included. At many required courses hygienists of members
are invited at a minimal fee to obtain their necessary CE too. We also
offer scientific and other speakers on dental related topics at most of our
monthly meetings. One to two hours of Continuing Education credit is
available and the CE forms are provided. Dental Vendors are usually
present, offering a chance to see new products without interruption to your
busy practice.
Our Association has a great heritage of mutual respect and a
true spirit of camaraderie. We know you will be impressed by the
willingness and desire to truly help you succeed. We challenge you to
maintain a high ethical standard that reflects the professionalism that
distinguishes our association and its proud members.
Peer Review
The PCDA maintains a Peer Review system designed to assist
patients and dentists in mediating matters of dispute.
This is a benefit to both our dentists and
our community by allowing a professional
platform for evaluating and resolving grievances at no charge to
either party.
Peer Review is a public interest voluntary service and we are
one of the few dental societies that successfully maintain this beneficial
program.
